SADDLE GRIZZLY DYED SALMON
Description
The Whiting Spey Rooster Hackle Saddle (Bronze Spey Hackle Saddle) is one of the world’s finest materials for the construction of Spey flies and salmon flies.
These feathers originate from the genetic selection work of Dr. Tom Whiting, who in the 1990s decided to bring back the characteristics of the legendary roosters of Scotland’s Spey River Valley.
The goal was to recreate-and surpass-the original feathers once used for Spey flies and later replaced with heron feathers, which were later banned. The result is a line that is unique in quality and performance: extra-long, perfectly uniform fibers, with no barbules between fibers, and an ideal density to create broad, vibrant, living profiles in the water.
Perfect for building salmon and steelhead flies, these feathers are also prized by those experimenting with streamers and predator flies.
Intense, natural colorations make each Bronze Spey Hackle Saddle a distinctive element in any fly tyer’s construction bench.
A product of the highest standard, a symbol of Whiting tradition and the best American genetics applied to fly tying.
